Carol Cotten

After a long career in public accounting, I began taking art classes with Chris diDomizio as I transitioned into retirement.  Never having taken formal art classes before, I learned

drawing and basic art principles from diDomizio.

Upon completion of diDomizio’s formal program, I sought a looser and more impressionist style and began to take workshops from several of Atlanta’s favorite workshop instructors including Nancy Franke and Jim Richards.  More recently I have attended workshops with

Anne Blair Brown, Jenny Buckner, Derek Penix and Kathy Odom.

In 2015 I began classes with Laura Lanford; in Spring 2017 I was accepted into Jim Richards’ mentoring program.  I continue to be inspired by and learn from these instructors.  I enjoy both studio and plein air painting and have thoroughly enjoyed and been inspired by painting trips to Maine, Italy and France.

I have been a guest artist at Huff Harrington Gallery's Bastille Day Show in 2015, and have paintings exhibited at the Atlanta Artist Center and the Buckhead Library Plein Air Exhibits in 2017 and 2018, in addition to several in-home shows hosted by friends. In 2019 and 2020 I participated in the Gilmer County's Plein Air, Art in the Mountains Festivals.   I currently have paintings at Westside Market Midtown in Atlanta with fellow artists as Four Friends and a Paintbrush.
